Chief Fire Officer/Director of Community Safety

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for showing an interest in this role. Having recently joined Oxfordshire County Council as Chief Executive, for both Oxfordshire and Cherwell District Council, I know that this is a great time to join this forward-thinking organisation. We are embarking on an exciting organisation-wide transformation programme that will help us to deliver our vision of 'thriving communities for everyone in Oxfordshire.'

This means big changes in the years ahead, to protect and improve frontline services for residents, while cutting red tape and reducing costs.

The programme will bring with it many benefits, among them:

  • We will deliver even better services for residents; they will be able to access more of our services in one place and online, they will only have to tell their story once to get the services they need, and they will be able to arrange more of their services independently.
  • Our staff will have the technology and tools to do their jobs, and efficient systems to work with.
  • We will have more time to focus on the most important things.
  • We will make the most of our talent and skills and support staff to learn new ones.
  • If staff have a good idea, they will be able to make it a reality.
  • We will be able to concentrate our efforts on people who need our help and support the most.
  • We will be better able to meet the rising demands for services.
  • We will make the financial savings we need to.

If you would like to be a part of our senior management team helping us to drive forward these changes, as our Chief Fire Officer and Director of Community Safety, we would be delighted to hear from you and look forward to receiving your application.

Yvonne Rees
